“Who holds your ‘someday’? Are you still attempting to change things that are beyond your power and out of your control? Have you simply given up, and in your disappointment resigned to play mental dream games to keep yourself going? Look up! Your Father controls it all and he looks on you with grace and favor. It’s never ever risky to place your past, present, and future in his hands. His ‘someday’ isn’t a ‘someday’ at all, no, it’s a ‘will be.'” [I found this quote here a while back, as quoted from here.]

Do you find yourself so often attempting to change different aspects of your life? Or.. maybe telling God how the details are supposed to work?

“Come now, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a city and spend a year there and carry on our business and make money.’ Yet you do not know [the least thing] about what may happen tomorrow. What is the nature of your life? You are [really] but a wisp of vapor (a puff of smoke, a mist) that is visible for a little while and then disappears [into thin air]. You ought instead to say, If the Lord is willing, we shall live and we shall do this or that [thing]. But as it is, you boast [falsely] in your presumption and your self-conceit. All such boasting is wrong. So any person who knows what is right to do but does not do it, to him it is sin.” [James 3:13-17, Amplified Bible]

I think that.. sometimes it’s really hard to just let God do His thing. You can see something.. or think you can see something.. coming, and it’s all you can do to just wait on Him. But He has our lives in His hands. He has perfect timing in all things. When we see it, and when we don’t.

Patience and contentment with where we are in life isn’t easy.. not always, anyway. Because sometimes wanting to just know a little of what’s around the bend in the road kinda takes over.

Let God hold onto your someday.. Hard as it might be to let go and just trust. It’s so much better that way though. Because He doesn’t just know our story, He wrote our story. He wrote the beginning. He wrote the part we’re in the middle of. He wrote the rest-of-our-life story.

And He knows just what we need.. just when we need it.

So I choose to trust Him with my rest-of-my-life story.. with each bend in the road..
