“Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.” — Proverbs 3:5-6, Amplified Bible

If I take everything at face value and run with it, just assuming everything and not knowing anything, then I am doing absolutely nothing but leaning on my own understanding instead of trusting God for His. My own understanding is going to collapse underneath my weight, because it was never meant to hold me up…

God tells me again and again, gently reminding me, “Trust Me. Don’t trust what your mind or your heart tell you. Just trust Me, and I’ll take care of you and show you exactly what you need and where to go and what to do. I’ll lead you and show you the way, making your paths straight. But you have to trust Me.”

[My life] was already [His], but.. there is just something significant for me about consciously giving [Him] control..

I can’t go through life putting my faith in finding answers from my own understanding. It sounds so obvious and like something any follower of Christ should [and would] be great at, right? — Putting our trust in Him. Yet in reality, I think it’s pretty hard. It means letting go of what we think we know in order to step out in faith and really trust God — with all our hearts. Every part. Even that deep secret place that nobody knows but God and us.
