So last night I was told they think there is a slight chance it isn’t cancer. Also, they said it isn’t into his brain. So thank and praise God for that. ūüôā¬†

Please, please continue to pray for Jon and his family. Pray for him.. pray for Amy, his wife.. pray for their four kids, Caleb, Josh, Eli, and Liz.

“Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise.¬†Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord.¬†And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.¬†Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.¬†Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years.¬†Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.” [James 5:13-18, NIV]

These verses remind me of a missions trip I went on in 2002. We were having an outdoor program for some neighborhood children, and the sky was so dark and cloudy. And my whole group was praying for it not to rain, not to storm on us and rain out our program. Except for one guy. He didn’t pray for it not to rain.. but he instead prayed for “sprinkles”. You know.. I will never ever forget that day. Because no, it didn’t storm on us. It didn’t rain steadily. It sprinkled on and off until our program was over.¬†

God does answer prayer. If you’ve never experienced His answers in a tangible way.. trust me, I have. In more ways than with the rain, too.

Jon’s surgery is set for a week from tomorrow (making it set for May 8th), but depending on some circumstances, they may possibly be able to get him in earlier.¬†

He can do anything. He can make it disappear right now, if He chooses. Maybe that would be like having it not rain that day seven years ago, though. Maybe it is part of God’s mystery to make it sprinkle. I don’t know.

I wish I had more answers than I do. I wish I knew the reason for it all, but like a friend said last night — there is a reason.. for all of this.. even though we might not see it in the here and now. I know for certain that God has a purpose in this, I just don’t know what it is.¬†

And so I have no choice but to just keep trusting and praying. Because I completely don’t understand.¬†

Do you ever think trusting God is so much easier said than done?

Thank you.. each of you.. for your continued prayers. I will update again as soon as I can.
