“take my hand and walk with me a while
’cause it seems your smile has left you
and don’t give in, when you fall apart
and your broken heart has failed you
i’ll set a light up
on a hilltop
to show you my love
for this world to see

you can borrow mine
when your hope is gone
borrow mine
when you can’t go on
’cause the world will not defeat you
when we’re side by side
when your faith is hard to find
you can borrow mine

take my love when all that you can see
is the raging sea all around us
and don’t give up ’cause i’m not letting go
And the God we know will not fail us
we’ll lay it all down
as we call out
sweet Savior
help our unbelief

you can borrow mine
when your hope is gone
borrow mine
when you can’t go on
’cause the world will not defeat you
when we’re side by side
when your faith is hard to find
you can borrow mine

when you are weak
unable to speak
you are not alone
the God who has saved us
will never forsake us
He’s coming to take us
take us to our home

you can borrow mine
when your hope is gone
borrow mine
when you can’t go on
’cause the world will not defeat you
when we’re side by side
when your faith is hard to find
when your faith is hard to find
you can borrow mine

take my hand
take my love
don’t give in
don’t give up…”

~ “borrow mine”.. by bebo norman

This has long been one of my favorite songs. I think it emphasizes well the need we have for each other.

We’re told in Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 [NIV], “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

“The world cannot defeat you when we’re side by side…” We are meant to strengthen each other with our prayers, support, love, and friendship. We’re meant to smile and cry with each other and to do whatever we can to help those in need.. whatever they may be in need of [Romans 12:10, 15].

Sometimes that need is faith.. sometimes it is a need for just someone to be there. Sometimes it’s a need to be reminded that our God reigns and will never leave us or fail us.

They apparently are not calling Jon’s tumor cancer, although it did have “malignant components”.. which I don’t understand. I always thought malignant and cancer went hand-in-hand. But I guess that shows how much (or how little, rather..) I know about medical stuff. This type of tumor is very rare and tends to come back, they said. But I know that God is so much bigger and He is all-powerful.

As Jon waits for, begins, and goes through radiation in these coming weeks, pray and believe, please. For him and his family as they deal with the effects of the radiation. His optic nerve is right there and doesn’t do well with radiation, so the doctors say. And pray for his overall health too…

Many thanks to all who have kept reminding me and prodding me along during all of this.. reminding me of what faith is and of God’s ever-loving promises to each of us.

This is just the first video I found of this song.. nothing fancy.. but you can listen anyway..

Keep praising Him in the storm, praying, and believing along with us, please. The story so far..

part four
He is mighty to save..
whenever you call..
really living by faith..
i know God had a purpose for this..
the Lord will fight for you..
faith is being certain..
keep on believing..
God is working..
His love never ends..
all will see..
God is big enough..
He never changes..
He knows the plans He has for us..
even when we don’t understand..
