“Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, ‘The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.’ The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.” [Lamentations 3:22-26, NIV]

I know I’ve posted these verses before.. probably multiple times recently.. but I am reminded of them again and again as I wait and pray and believe.

Amy says they met with Jon’s neurologist and surgeon these last couple of days and that they were both hopeful and cautious that the radiation will “zap the remaining tumor”. God knows exactly how to take care of him and his situation.. and it’s so scary.. but I know they are trusting Him, and I know that I am also. God knows what He is doing.. always.

I saw Jon yesterday morning, and every time.. I am reminded yet again of God’s power and amazingness. He is doing something big, something amazing. Just like this song by Sanctus Real, “whatever You’re doing inside of me, it feels like chaos, but I believe You’re up to something bigger than me..” He is working in ways we can’t necessarily even see at this moment.

Here is a list of specific things Amy and Jon have asked for prayer for, in Amy’s words:

  • Pray for our safety in travel as we travel to and from West Chester everyday.
  • We found out 2 weeks ago that part of the tumor (the size of a dime) remains deep within the cranial nerves of Jon’s brain. The radiation is focused in this area.  We have appts with 2 Dr’s this week to discuss what to do about the remaining tumor.  Pray that God will continue to direct our path in what is right for Jon.
  • Jon is feeling more and more effects from each treatment. (we just finished 10 of 33) Please pray that the cancer cells will all be destroyed and the healthy brain tissue will be preserved.  Pray that Jon’s body can remain strong.  Specifically pray for the protection of his sight, hearing, memory, word finding, and processing skills.
  • Pray for Dr. McPherson (our surgeon) and Dr. Guarnishelle (radiation oncologist) as they care for Jon.
  • Pray for our children Caleb 12, Joshua 9, Eli 6 and Elizabeth 3 who love their Daddy and are praying that their God will heal his head and help him play again. As you can imagine this has been really hard on our kids. We especially pray that they will see God touching our family and in all ways they will always glorify Him.
  • Pray for Amy… that [she] will rest in God’s perfect plan for Jon and give control to Him.
  • Pray that Jon will remain seizure free during radiation and will be able to drive again as soon as possible. (this is a request for both of us) 🙂
