“what we do here is just the beginning
new life is starting at every ending
we are a part of the story unfolding
this is the weight of the world we are holding
this could be our day
this could be our day

clearly it’s time to make a change
or i could keep sitting and waste all day
i know that it’s time for me to move
i’ve been given this minute to use
and given this moment to prove that

what we do here is just the beginning
new life is starting at every ending
we are a part of the story unfolding
this is the weight of the world we are holding
this could be our day
this could be our day

i was holding back
now i’ve come undone
i want to touch the world
heal the broken ones
ending the cycle has just begun
we’ve been given this minute to use
and given this life to prove…

to give ourselves away
for something beautiful
a million miles away
to the one who’s hungry and thirsty
and needs some hope
to the people that are weary and
broken and left alone
i’m giving myself away
i’m giving myself away…”

My Nicaragua video wouldn’t embed.. might be just a flukey thing, I don’t know.. so if you’re interested, you can follow this link.

This song just struck me as a perfect fit for Nicaragua.. or any missions trip.. or any act of love for others, really. It’s all about how we live each day.. how we have this power, this opportunity, this moment to make an impact on the world we live in.

We have a choice each minute that we live: keep sitting and wasting away the time we’ve been given, or make the first move to step out of the circle where we’re oh-so-comfortable and really love somebody.

To choose to love others is to set in motion a cycle that will keep going.. it’s just the beginning of watching God work in huge ways.

And we have this choice to make each day. This could be our day “to give ourselves away for something beautiful a million miles away”… it could be the day we feed somebody who is hungry and thirsty, the day we share a hug and the love of Jesus with that person that is so despairing and in need of hope.

Anyway, I guess I don’t really have a specific story to go with this at the moment.. Just be encouraged to go out of your way to find somebody to love with Jesus’ love today. And know that everything you do counts for something.. good or bad, everything will bring about some kind of result.

If you’re interested, you can read more about my Nicaragua trip here: at home in nicaragua.. and in wonder.. and lovin’ people.. and little — and not so little — moments.. and immersed in the culture..

And please, please keep on praying and believing and praising. Jon is doing so well. Be praying for his MRI coming up in a few weeks, that the doctors will find the tumor completely gone, never to return. God is so big. If you haven’t already, please catch up on their story!
