I ran across this quote a while back, and these words fit so perfectly with my life and the lessons I have been learning over the past couple of years that I needed to share them.

“God allows us to experience the low points of life in order to teach us lessons we could not learn in any other way.”  — C.S. Lewis

Such a simple statement, yet so full of truth.

It’s something I’d known deep in my heart for ages. Way before I ever read it. And probably way before these last couple of years. But honestly, I don’t think I realized the extent of the truth in these words.. until I had no choice. No choice but to either let God work through the circumstances in which I so suddenly and so unwelcomely found myself, or to turn my back and decide that He wasn’t Who I’d always believed Him to be.

I chose to let God work and I chose to believe He is exactly Who He says He is. And He has proven over and over to me through that choice that He strengthens the weary and gives hope to those who feel as though they have none (Isaiah 40:31).

And I will continue to choose this path. Some days it’s easy, other days.. not so much. It is learning to trust God in the low points, though, that makes the lovely days as lovely as they are. It’s what gives us a smile on the good days. Because we know God is there in the good and the bad.

The way I act and react to circumstances has the potential to draw others to God or push them away. I’ve got to be very intentional about what I do with my life so that my choices draw attract those I come in contact with to my Savior.. not distract them from Him or turn them off.

Please keep on praying for Jon and his family.. and catch up with his story if you haven’t already! :)
