I ran across this journal entry¬†a few days ago… it’s from my Nicaragua trip this past summer. It was relevant then and still is. In fact, it’s one of those things that never ceases to be relevant.

I so love how the dynamics of every trip are completely different, yet God works and makes Himself shine throughout. The combination of people, the worksites and jobs at hand, the leaders, the kids, the community… there are so many variables that combine to make it all so unique.

It has been so amazing getting to know Hannah & Micah, Yader, Maycol, Lesther, Anielka, and the others. To hear their stories. To connect with them. I love it.

At Oscar’s on Sunday, the sermon was about how we need to pray always and how prayer encourages and strengthens us. How God is with us even when life is super hard. That is something that resonates with me… my life has been so up and down over the past 3 1/2 years, and while I know it’s been far different from the lives of anyone I know here, the principle of it is the same. Discouragement is the same no matter where you are. And no matter where you are, God is with you. Prayer makes a difference, always. No matter what the situation is, no matter where you are, no matter who you are. God wants to work in your heart. I want to be open and let Him work in mine all the time… not just in spurts. Not just when I feel like it.

I love that, no matter how many miles and how much culture may separate our lives on the surface that everyone sees, our hearts were still made to worship the same God, and our souls were still made to want to be with Him forever.
